Man arrested after police discover cannabis farm in raid on old Natwest bank

Police discovered a cannabis farm during a raid at an old Natwest bank in Wythenshawe.

Officers stormed the disused building on Church Road in Northenden on Tuesday (June 16).

An unknown quantity of 'suspected' cannabis plants were seized at the property.

A 20-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of cultivation of cannabis. He remains in custody for questioning.

Eyewitnesses described seeing two police vans and two police cars outside the former bank on Tuesday evening.

They reported seeing several police officers attempting to break through the front doors of the building.

In a statement, GMP said: "On Tuesday 16 June 2020, police executed a warrant at a property on Church Road, Northenden.

"A 20-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of cultivation of cannabis.

"He remains in police custody for questioning. A quantity of suspected cannabis plants were seized. Enquiries are ongoing."
