A man has been arrested for allegedly performing a sex act on himself outside Ibrox at the weekend.

Police have confirmed the man, aged 46, has been arrested and charged and is due to appear in court.

It comes after fans gathered outside Ibrox stadium in a lockdown flouting celebration after Rangers beat St Mirren 3 – 0.

The mass gatherings of fans continued on Sunday outside the stadium and in Glasgow City Centre.

We told how police launched an investigation into an alleged sexual offence close to the stadium in Govan.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "A 46-year-old man has been arrested and charged in connection with an alleged sexual offence.

“He has been released on an undertaking to appear at court at a later date will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal."

Officers were attacked during the gatherings with 28 people arrested and seven fined amid alleged sectarian offences.

The gatherings were banded "shameful" by Deputy First Minister John Swinney during a coronavirus briefing on Monday.

He also criticised Rangers FC for a “lack of leadership”.
