Man arrested after passenger 'pushed in front' of Tube at Kentish Town

A man has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder after another man was allegedly pushed in front of a Tube train.

The victim was left seriously injured after he was hit on Wednesday morning at Kentish Town Underground station in London. He was taken to hospital as a “priority”.

The British Transport Police (BTP) said they had arrested a 29-year-old man from Colindale, London, who was now in police custody.

Detective Superintendent Gary Richardson said: “The man voluntarily attended a London Police station. He is currently in police custody helping officers with their enquiries."

A spokesman for London Ambulance Service said: “We were called at 11:44 am to Kentish Town Underground station to reports of a person hit by a train. We sent multiple resources to the scene, including a single responder in a car, an ambulance crew, our hazardous area response team and London’s Air Ambulance.”

“We treated a man at the scene and took him as a priority to a hospital in central London with a doctor from the air ambulance on board.”

Following the incident, Kentish Town station was evacuated and closed to passengers.

Verity Slattery saw the incident and said: “I feel physically sick. Someone has just been pushed under the train at Kentish Town Underground station.”

She later said she was in “utter shock and disbelief” and hoped the man would be okay.
