Third man arrested after Scots pensioner suffers fractured skull during robberies in own home

A third man has been arrested after a Scots pensioner had his skull fractured in a horror home robbery after being targeted twice in one day.

The 69-year-old victim was allegedly threatened by masked man with a fake gun who demanded cash at his home in Lynedoch Street, Greenock, at 6.30am on Wednesday, December 16, morning

Money was taken during the first raid.

Later that night two men forced entry into the same property and assaulted the pensioner.

As a result of the horrifying attack he was rushed to Inverclyde Hospital with a fractured skull.

Police and paramedics were called to the property at 10.35pm where two men were still in the property.

Both men were arrested.

Now, police have confirmed that a 40-year-old man has been arrested and charged in connection with the robbery at 6.30am.

He is due to appear at Greenock Sheriff Court on Monday, December 21.

A report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal.

A spokesperson from Police Scotland said: "A 40-year-old man has been arrested and charged in connection with a robbery in Greenock.

"The incident occurred around 6.30am on Wednesday, December 16 at a property in Lynedoch Street.

"He is due to appear at Greenock Sheriff Court on Monday, 21 December, 2020.

"A report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal."
