Man arrested after Newton Mearns robbery

A man has been arrested in connection with a robbery at a travel agents in Newton Mearns.

The incident happened at a premises in Ayr Road at around 1pm on Friday, January 17.

A five-figure sum of foreign currency was stolen.

The 34-year-old will appear in court this week.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "A 34-year-old man has been arrested and charged in connection with a robbery, following a police operation on Wednesday, 5 February, 2020.   

"The robbery occurred at premises on Ayr Road, Newton Mearns, around 1pm on Friday, 17 January, 2020."

A report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal.
