Man arrested after Katoomba stand off

The man was arrested after holding police at bay in the Blue Mountains for more than three hours. (AAP)

Police have arrested a NSW man after a three and a half hour stand-off that saw officers swarm a Blue Mountains street.

Emergency services were called to a home on Lurline Street in Katoomba about 10am following reports of a concern for welfare.

Police were told a woman at the property had been threatened by a man known to her before she fled the home.

She was treated at the scene before being taken to Katoomba Hospital with minor injuries.

Officers, assisted by the Tactical Operations Unit and the Dog Unit, then commenced an operation and began negotiations with a man still inside the property.

About 1.30pm a 44-year-old man was arrested and taken to Katoomba Police Station where he is assisting police.

No one else was injured, police say.

One neighbour told 2GB he was evacuated from his home at 10am and had not been allowed back for several hours.

"[We] just know there is someone in the building who won't come out," he said. "I feel okay, a little bit weirded out by it all. I am literally standing here on the street in my pyjamas."
