Man arrested after huge police presence in Birkenhead

A man was arrested on suspicion of assault and false imprisonment in Birkenhead yesterday.

Officers were sent to the scene in Borough Road, close to the junction with Fountain Street, at around 10.45am yesterday (Monday).

A Merseyside Police spokesperson said: "Officers attended at a house on Borough Road and detained a 47 year-old man on suspicion of assault and false imprisonment.

"The man is currently being treated in hospital for an unconnected leg injury and enquiries remain ongoing."

Neighbours reported seeing police guarding a house in the area following the incident.
