A man was arrested after a terraced house went up in flames sparking a huge emergency service respone.
Fire crews, police officers and paramedics were all called to Kingsway in Huyton shortly after 8pm this evening to reports of smoke coming from a property.
Road closures were quickly put in place as firefighters began to battle the large blaze that was coming from inside a row homes.
A man was reportedly pulled from the fire and arrested by police on suspicion of arson before being taken to a police station.
A spokesperson for Merseyside Police told the ECHO: "Officers were called to the scene on Kingsway and have implemented a number of road closures.
"The incident is currently still on going but a man, who was inside the property when emergency services arrived at the scene, was arrested on suspicion of arson.
"No one else has been injured in the incident and there is not believed to be any third party involvement."
Pictures taken at the scene of the fire show thick black smoking billowing from the windows of the house.
