A man has been arrested and charged in connection with a horror quad bike crash in North Lanarkshire.

We told how the smash took place at Kenilworth Avenue in Wishaw town centre, near the junction with Lammermoor Terrace, at around 6.45am on Thursday.

The passenger of the quad bike, a 36-year-old man, suffered serious head injuries and was rushed to Glasgow's Queen Elizabeth University Hospital for treatment.

Medics said he remains in a serious but stable condition.

On Saturday morning officers confirmed that a 31-year-old man had been arrested and charged in connection with the incident.

He is due to appear at Hamilton Sheriff Court at a later date.

Cops thanked all those who helped with their investigation.

Sergeant Scott Sutherland said: “I would like to thank everyone who assisted us in our investigation into this incident.”
