
A young woman stabbed to death in south London has been named by police as a second man was arrested on suspicion of murder.
Metropolitan Police officers discovered 26-year-old Marjama Osman in Frith Road, Croydon on Saturday morning.
She had been assaulted inside an address before going into the street where she collapsed.
Officers attended with paramedics and London’s Air Ambulance, who treated two injured individuals at the scene around 9am.
Ms Osman was declared dead by the London Ambulance Service after sustaining a single stab wound.
Meanwhile, a 33-year-old man detained at the scene on suspicion of murder was taken to hospital with minor injuries.
On Sunday, officers also arrested a 32-year-old male. Both have since been released on bail whilst enquiries continue.
Detective Chief Inspector Dave Whellams, who is leading the homicide investigation said: “We appreciate that this tragic incident has caused real concern within the community in Croydon.
“Our priority at the moment is to continue gathering the evidence we need to hold whoever is responsible for Marjama’s death to account, whilst supporting her family at this difficult time.
“Our understanding at the moment is that Marjama was assaulted inside an address on Frith Road before going into the street where she collapsed.

“We are appealing to anyone who may have seen or heard anything in the area to contact us and assist with our investigation.
“We appreciate that there is speculation within the local community around Marjama’s death.
“I would encourage anyone who may have heard anything concerning her death to contact us. These conversations within the community could lead us to getting the justice Marjama deserves.”
Superintendent Mitch Carr, who leads local policing in Croydon, said: “This is a tragic incident where a young woman has lost her life and our thoughts are with her loved ones.
“I especially want to thank the members of the public, including a teenage boy, who bravely tried to help the victim.
“We believe that this was an isolated incident, but understand that this news will shock the local community.
“Officers will remain in the area over the coming days and we would ask anyone who has concerns to speak with them.”
