Man arrested after he was spotted drinking Budweiser at the wheel

A man has been arrested after he was spotted drinking a Budweiser at the wheel.

People driving past his Vauxhall Vivaro van on the M6 spotted the dangerous driving and called the police.

He eventually came to a stop on Liverpool Road in Eccles where officers met him with a breath test.

Writing on Twitter, Greater Manchester Police said: "He blew 33 at the roadside...but failed drugs test and cannabis."

The legal limit for drink-driving is 35mcg in 100ml of breath.

North Way Motorway Police said: "Thanks for the phone call from the member of the public reporting dangerous driving M6.

"The vehicle was picked up on the M60 by #XT1. The driver provided a Negative Breath test, however tested positive for a road side Drugs Wipe"

It added: "They will now be taken to custody to provide a further specimen that will provide evidence of any drug(s) in a person's body
