Man arrested after he allegedly "purposefully coughed" over officer, police say

Police in Carrickfergus have arrested a man after an officer was "purposefully coughed" at.

The domestic incident occurred shortly after 12:35am on Friday morning at an address in the Rosebrook Grove area.

The man was also arrested on suspicion of resisting police, common assault and disorderly behaviour.

A PSNI spokesperson said "officers were called to an incident at an address in Rosebrook Grove at around 12:35am where they arrested a 31-year-old man".

It is alleged that when spoken to by an officer, the man "purposefully coughed over him". A man was subsequently arrested on suspicion of attempting to commit grievous bodily harm, police say.
