A man has been arrested over the death of a young Southport man on the Costa Blanca.
Ben Nesbit, from Woodvale, was tragically wounded inside an address in Ciudad Quesada, near Alicante, during the early hours of Thursday, October 1.
The 22-year-old suffered knife wounds from which the labourer couldn't recover despite the efforts of emergency services and other people at the scene.
A British man has been arrested on suspicion of his murder and was taken into custody.
Police said the suspect was arrested in Girona, more than 400 miles away from the murder scene, the Spanish based The Olive Press website reported.
It was said the man was heading for the French border and was 40 miles away from the checkpoint.
The suspect, who has not been named, has appeared in front of a judge who ruled he should remain in custody as the investigation progresses.
Ben's family in Southport has been informed of his death.
It was reported that two British men got into an argument at a property in Ciudad Quesada before Ben was fatally stabbed in the neck at about 3am.
In the immediate aftermath of the tragedy, police were looking for a black BMW 520D Sport, with the registration plate MW63 MPF as they launched a manhunt to find Ben's killer.
