Man arrested after gardai see several items thrown from taxi window in cannabis find

A man was arrested after gardai seized €60,000 worth of illegal drugs in west Dublin yesterday.

Gardai saw a man getting into a taxi and grew suspicious after a number of items were thrown from the vehicle after the patrol car was spotted.

The car was stopped and officers arrested the man, aged 20, after discovering two phones and cannabis with an estimated street value of €10,000.

A follow-up search of a property in Lucan found 2.5kgs of cannabis (subject to analysis) was seized with an estimated street value of €50,000.

The man was taken to Ronanstown Garda station where he was detained under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act, 1984.

He was since been charged in relation to the seizure and was released on bail to appear before Blanchardstown District Court, Court number 1 on Thursday morning, 17th June, 2021 at 10.30a.m.

Investigations are ongoing.
