A man has been arrested after gardaí were on a car chase in Carlow this lunchtime.
The car was flagged down by gardai on the Milford Road near Bagenalstown just after 1.30pm
But he failed to stop - leading to a pursuit.
Backup was required as Garda units were deployed from Carlow town and Kilkenny city to assist.
The car was stopped soon after in Bagenalstown and the driver, a man in his 30s, was arrested.
He was subsequently brought to Carlow Garda Station for questioning.
A Garda spokesman said: "Gardaí from the Roads Policing Unit in Carlow observed a vehicle driving dangerously on the Carlow/Kilkenny road at approximately 1:30pm on Thursday, 3rd June, 2021
"The vehicle initially failed to stop for Gardaí and, following a short pursuit, the male driver of the car was arrested at Bagnelstown, County Carlow.
"The man, aged in his 30s, was arrested for road traffic offences and is currently detained at Carlow Garda Station. Investigations are ongoing."
