Man arrested after gardai find open can of cider in van that was driving on Luas tracks

A man has got himself a date in court after he was found driving on the Luas tracks with a can of open cider beside him.

Gardai made the jarring discovery after seeing the motorist on the tracks over the weekend.

After responding they then found the can and arrested him under suspicion of drink driving.

Gardai uploaded a pic to Twitter showing the van with the can sitting in the cup holder beside the steering wheel.

They said: "Garda Commercial Vehicle Unit: The driver of this van brings a whole new meaning to the term “Rapid Transport” as he was driving on the LUAS tracks while having a jar !!

"Arrested on suspicion of drink driving !!!!!!

"Court proceedings to follow."
