Man arrested after firefighter sees someone attempt to drag woman from car in Dolphin's Barn, South Dublin

A man has been arrested on suspicion of an attempted hijacking after firefighters spotted someone trying to drag a woman out of a car in South Dublin.

Gardai rushed to the scene on Rutland Avenue around 3pm on Saturday after the incident which happened right under the nose of Dolphin's Barn Fire Station.

Staff immediately rang gardai and according to The Independent and a man in his 20s was later arrested.

A spokesperson said: "Gardaí at Sundrive Rd in Dublin are investigating an attempted hijacking of a car at Rutland Ave, Crumlin at approximately 3pm, Sunday 27 October 2019.

"A male attempted to pull a female from her car at the above location, members of the public who witnessed the incident contacted Gardaí who arrested the male who is detained at Crumlin Garda Station,

"Investigations are continuing."
