About 1pm Tuesday, Northern Region officers stopped a 42-year-old man on Beaumont Street, Hamilton.

Police said the man was behaving suspiciously at that time, causing officers to conduct a search.

Police allegedly located more than 8 grams methyl-amphetamine, heroin, cash and several other suspicious items.

The man, who was also on bail for other offences, was arrested and taken to Newcastle Police Station.

He was charged with four offences including supply prohibited drug, possess prohibited drug, goods in custody and breach of bail conditions.

A search warrant was conducted at his Hamilton address where a variety of drugs were allegedly located along with suspected stolen property.

The man was refused bail and will appear at Newcastle Local Court on Wednesday.
