Man arrested after 'disturbance' sparks huge police response in Edinburgh

A man has been arrested following a ‘disturbance’ in Edinburgh which saw dozens of police officers race to the scene.


More than a dozen emergency service vehicles were called to North Junction Street in Leith at around 6.10pm on Friday.

Specialist cops in riot gear and police dogs were also drafted in as shocked residents watched the drama unfolding.

The surrounding area was cordoned off as officers dealt with the ongoing incident which concluded around three hours later.

Police Scotland confirmed a 49-year-old man has now been arrested following a ‘disturbance’.

A spokesperson said: “Officers attended at North Junction Street in Leith at 6.10pm on Friday 20 June after reports of a disturbance, a 49 year old man was arrested. 

“There was no threat to the wider public.”
