Man arrested after 'disturbance' at pub in Salford

A man has been arrested after a 'disturbance' at a pub in Salford.

Police were called to the incident at the Golden Lion pub on Manchester Road in Clifton at around 7.30pm last night (Sunday).

A man was arrested on suspicion of assault and criminal damage.

He remains in custody awaiting an interview, police said.

Two police cars were pictured in the pub car park after the incident last night.

An update was posted onto the pub's Facebook at around 11pm.

It read: "We do not tolerate threatening behaviour towards our staff or our customers if we think you have had to much to drink we will ask you to leave."

Another post was then made just after midnight, stating that the pub would be closed until 1pm today 'due to unforeseen circumstances'.

In a statement, a GMP spokesperson said: "At around 7.30pm on Sunday 13 June 2021 police were called to a disturbance at the Golden Lion Public House on Manchester Road in Clifton.

"Police attended and a man was arrested on suspicion of assault and criminal damage.

"He has been detained and is awaiting interview."
