A 60-year-old man has been arrested after a woman was found dead in an Airdrie home.
Cops were called to Torrance Avenue after the alarm was raised at around 10.45am on Sunday, with several police vehicles and officers in attendance.
The 54-year-old woman was pronounced dead at the scene following an alleged serious assault.
Following the arrest, police are saying the death is being treated as an “isolated incident”.
A Police Scotland spokeswoman told Lanarkshire Live : “We were made aware of a woman who had allegedly been seriously assaulted within a property on Torrance Avenue, Airdrie, at around 10.45am on Sunday.
“She was pronounced dead at the scene and a 60-year-old man has been arrested.
“It is being treated as an isolated incident and enquiries are ongoing.”
