Man arrested after cops swoop on Rutherglen flats following disturbance

A man has been arrested following a disturbance at a block of flats in Rutherglen on Wednesday night.

Officers from Police Scotland rushed to Chapel Street in the Lanarkshire town at around 7.45pm after reports of concern for a man inside a property.

At least six cop cars were seen in attendance at the scene.

When specialist police arrived at the address a 40-year-old man "created a disturbance ".

Officers could be seen carrying shields for their own protection as they removed the male from the property.

He was arrested and charged and will appear at court at a later date.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "We received a report of a concern for person within an address on Chapel Street, Rutherglen, around 7.45pm on Wednesday, 15 April, 2020.   

"Officers attended and a 40-year-old man created a disturbance within the property.

Specialist officers attended and he was later safely removed.    

"The man has been charged in relation to this incident and will appear at court at a later date."
