Man arrested after cops pull over car and find drugs worth £150,000

A man has been arrested after police discovered £150,000 worth of Cannabis inside a Skoda.

Officers stopped the car on the A74 northbound near Ecclefechan and found a 'significant quantity of drugs'.

A 25 year-old man has been charged in connection with a number of offences including drugs offences, road traffic offences and attempting to pervert the course of justice.

He is due before Dumfries Sheriff Court on Monday, 15 June, 2020.

A full report will be sent to the Procurator Fiscal.

Inspector Andy Mather from the Road Policing Unit said: “This recovery has stopped a significant amount of drugs from reaching the streets of Scotland.

"We will continue our work to track down those involved in this type of behaviour and take action.

“We can’t tackle this issue alone.

"We rely on the support the public give us on drugs-related issues as this helps us gather intelligence that we can act on.

"I would urge anyone with information about drugs in their local communities to contact police through 101.

"Alternatively Crimestoppers can be contacted on 0800 555 111, where anonymity can be maintained.”
