A man has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder after a commuter was allegedly pushed in front of a London Underground train in front of horrified onlookers.
The 29-year-old, from Colindale, London, presented himself for inquiries at a London police station after the incident at Kentish Town tube station, British Transport police said.
Commuters wrote on social media of their shock after apparently witnessing the incident at 11.45am on Wednesday.
A witness, Mel Westwood, who was travelling on the train that hit the man, told the Sun that a group of children were on the platform at the time and may have seen the horrifying events.
She said: “I was in the front carriage just behind the driver and I had my headphones on as we came in but suddenly felt this bump. Other people began standing up and I took my headphones out and asked what had happened and was told someone had gone under the train.
“There was a group of young children on the platform with their teacher and they were crying.”
Kentish Town station was evacuated while police and paramedics attended the scene, and it remained closed in the afternoon.

A statement from the London ambulance service said: “We were called at 11.44am to Kentish Town underground station to reports of a person hit by a train.
“We treated a man at the scene and took him as a priority to a hospital in central London with a doctor from the air ambulance on board.”

Det Supt Gary Richardson of British Transport police said: “I can confirm a 29-year-old man from Colindale, London, has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder following an incident today, Wednesday 2 December, at Kentish Town London Underground station.
“The man voluntarily attended a London police station. He is currently in police custody helping officers with their inquiries. I would like to thank the public and the media for their help.”
