Man arrested after Christmas Day police car chase in Glasgow

A man has been arrested after a police car chase in Glasgow on Christmas Day.

The 24-year-old allegedly sped off after failing to stop when he was signalled by officers on Kelso Street in Knightswood.

He then ditched the car and made off on foot before cops caught up with him.

He was arrested two miles away at Southbrae Drive in the Jordanhill area.

The vehicle was found abandoned.

The incident happened at around 1.10pm yesterday, when most Scots were tucking into their turkey dinner.

The man has now been charged and he is set to appear at Glasgow Sheriff Court.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "We can confirm that a 24-year-old man has been arrested in connection with road traffic offences after failing to stop when signalled by officers on Kelso Street in Glasgow around 1.10pm on Friday, December 25.

"The vehicle was found abandoned a short time later and the man was subsequently arrested at Southbrae Drive.

"The man has been charged and will appear at Glasgow Sheriff Court in due course."
