A man has been arrested following a shocking gunpoint robbery in broad daylight near a popular Dublin attraction.
Gardai in Kevin Street have detained a man after two terrified tourists had a gun held to them on Long's Lane near the Guinness Storehouse on Monday.
Footage of the incident shows two males approach a woman before one of them produces what appears to be a gun.
The distraught victims cling to each other in fear as the man points the gun in their direction.
They then back up against a wall before the men flee.
Armed gardai arrived at the scene within minutes and a manhunt got underway.
Now one man has been arrested and is currently being detained in Kevin Street Garda Station.
A spokesperson told Dublin Live: "A man in his 30s has been arrested in relation to this incident. He is currently detained under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act 1984 at Kevin Street Garda Station. Investigations are continuing."
One witness, Muhammad, told of how he was gobsmacked to see it all unfold in broad daylight in an area where children play.
He told Liveline: "I was absolutely amazed that this could happen in Dublin in broad daylight. You can see a guy with a gun and he pulls it on the woman. A man goes back and stands in front of her, puts his hands up in the air and says 'don't shoot, don't shoot' and all you can hear is her saying 'don't shoot too'.
"This is happening beside one of the busiest tourist attractions in Ireland. That wall that the pair are backed up against is beside a national school.
"[The school children] play football there every evening. There's people walking by, cycling by and then there's just a man holding up a group of tourists. It's crazy."
