Man arrested after car hits pedestrian in Morrisons car park in Barry

Police have appealed for witnesses after incident in a supermarket car park in Barry .

South Wales Police said officers were called to Morrisons after a blue Vauxhall Agila on Tuesday, July 9, at around 5.15pm.

A 34-year-old man was taken to the University Hospital of Wales , Cardiff , for treatment.

A 63-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of assault and has been released under investigation.

Detectives want to speak to a woman who is believed to have witnessed two men involved in a confrontation when entering the store at around 5.10pm.

The woman who had a young child with her, is described as being white, with short blonde hair and was wearing glasses, dark trousers and a white vest top with a pink flamingo on the front.

The woman spoke with a member of staff at the tobacco counter after the altercation.

Detectives would also like to speak to a man and woman who were in a black vehicle in the car park at the time.

The male witness is described as being young, white and is seen to run after the suspect’s car following the collision.

Officers would also like to speak to a woman who was a passenger in the black car who may have witnessed the collision. She is described as being white with long blond hair tied in a ponytail.

Detective Constable Steve Gunney, from Barry CID, said: "I would urge these three witnesses to get in contact with us as we believe they may hold vital information to assist this investigation.

"They can get in contact by calling 101 quoting reference 1900249343 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111."
