A man has been arrested following a spate of car fires in one part of Merseyside.
At around 11.30pm on Sunday (October 9), emergency services were called to Mossley Road in Tranmere, Wirral, to reports of car on fire, causing significant damage. A further call was received a short time later following reports of a second car on fire on nearby Elderwood Road, again causing damage.
Following enquiries, a 45-year-old man from Tranmere was on suspicion of arson with intent to endanger life and attempted arson. No injuries were reported in relation to the incidents.

Community Policing Inspector Peter Rexwinkel said: “Although nobody was injured, it is only through the swift response of the fire service that the fires did not spread, potentially to nearby houses. We understand the concern that such incidents can cause in our communities and will act on all information provided to remove such risks.
"Although a man is now in custody and will be questioned, detectives would still like to hear from anyone who saw or heard anything, or captured the incidents on their own dashcam, CCTV or doorbell footage, all of which could be vital as this investigation continues.”
Anyone with information is asked to contact Merseyside Police Contact Centre or Crimestoppers anonymously with reference 22000746374.
