Man arrested after car crashes into Newton Mearns home

A man has been arrested after a car crashed into a Newton Mearns property in the early hours of this morning.

Police Scotland were called to Balgray Road at around 2.35am this morning following reports that a blue BMW had crashed into a home, causing signficant damage.

The 36-year-old driver and a 40-year-old female passenger were taken to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital from treatment.

A man, woman and two children in the propery were not injured.

A police spokeswoman said: "At 2.35am this morning police and ambulance were called after a blue BMW crashed into a property on Balgray Road in Newton Mearns causing substantial damage.

"A male, female and two children who were in the property were not injured.

"The 36-year-old male driver was taken by ambulance to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Glasgow, as was the 40-year-old female passenger.

"A 36-year-old has been arrested in connection with the incident."
