Man arrested after being found slumped over steering wheel of car in Bolton

A man was arrested after being found asleep in his car in Farnworth.

Police were called to Albert Road at around 5am this morning to reports of a man slumped over his steering wheel.

The caller was concerned for the man’s welfare, a spokesman for GMP said.

Officers claim that when they arrived, the man was “very drunk” and had fallen asleep.

He was breathalysed and allegedly blew a reading of 69 micrograms of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath, with the legal limit in England being 35.

Police claim the driver was also a provisional license holder and had no insurance on the car. The vehicle was seized and the driver was arrested.

A spokesman for GMP said: “At 5am we responded to a report of a male slumped over the steering wheel of a car on Albert Road Farnworth.

“The caller to police concerned about the males welfare.

“The male was just very drunk and had fallen asleep. Arrested drunk in charge and in custody blew 69.

“He was also a provisional license holder. No insurance held on the car which was then seized.”
