Father detained after daughter's body found in car

The pair was found in a car parked on Kidman Avenue at Kidman Park.

Police are yet to interview a man over the death of his daughter in Adelaide's west overnight, but have now confirmed the family connection between the pair.

The woman's body was found in a car parked on Kidman Avenue at Kidman Park, in Adelaide's west.

Her father was found alongside her with a serious stomach injury.

Police had been desperately searching for the pair after concerns for their welfare were raised late last night.

The search came to an end just after 11:30pm, when they were found in a car parked on Kidman Avenue at Kidman Park.

The woman's body was found inside, while the man had a serious stomach injury.

Police said he was rushed to the Royal Adelaide Hospital in a serious condition where police are waiting to speak to him.

"Police are investigating the matter further. It is a father and daughter," Detective Chief Inspector Tony Ransom said.

"There is a lot more background to establish, so I don't want to say anything at the moment which might contradict the investigation."

Senior Constable Matt Brown earlier said the incident was not considered random and the two people knew each other.

Neighbour Mihel Shuli said he was woken by the noise of smashing glass.

"It was scary. It was very loud," he said.

Kidman Avenue has reopened to traffic, and police said the incident was not related to a later shooting at nearby Lockleys.
