Man arrested after baseball bat attack in Manchester city centre...what police found in his house was even more disturbing

Police have made a disturbing find after arresting a man on suspicion of serious assault.

Officers were called to Byrom Street in the city centre on Saturday night to reports a man had suffered a fractured leg after being hit with a baseball bat multiple times.

A 39-year-old man has since been arrested on suspicion of serious assault.

After a police swoop on his home address revealed a number of dangerous weapons, the man was also arrested for possession of a prohibited firearm and possession of class A drugs.

A 25-year-old woman has also been arrested for possession of class A drugs and possession of a prohibited item.

When searching the house, officers seized two baseball bats, two stun devices, one zombie knife, a push dagger and three hunting knives.

They also uncovered a quantity of cocaine and heroin, three extendable batons, two knuckle dusters, three passports and an air pistol.

A spokesperson for GMP said: "A man has been arrested after a serious assault on a man with a baseball bat in the city centre.

"On Saturday 30 November 2019 at around 10:30pm, police were called to reports of an assault on Byrom Street where a man sustained a fractured leg after being hit by a baseball bat multiple times.

"A 39 - year -old man has been arrested at his home address on suspicion of serious assault, possession of class A drugs, and possession of prohibited firearm.

"He has been released under investigation."

"A 25 –year-old woman has been arrested for possession of class A drugs and possession of prohibited firearm.

"Anyone with any information about the assault should contact police on 0161 856 5887 quoting incident number 3293 of 30/11/19."
