A 39-year-old man has been arrested in connection with an assault and robbery at the home of an Edinburgh pensioner who later died in hospital.
Officers from Police Scotland were called to an incident on Restalrig Circus on January 24 after reports of a disturbance within a property.
Margaret Grant, 79, was rushed to Edinburgh Royal Infirmary by paramedics following the incident. However she sadly died soon after.
Following the incident police launched a huge manhunt.
Tributes were paid to the elderly churchgoer after her death.
Elaine Burke, 56, a carer who lives in the street, said: “Margaret was a very religious person who went to church every Sunday before she was housebound.
“She spent a lot of time knitting and crocheting and would donate clothes she made to charity.”
The man charged is set to appear at Edinburgh Sheriff Court on Wednesday, February 19.
