Man arrested after armed police and force helicopter involved in incident in centre of Uplands

A man has been arrested on suspicion of assault after a disturbance in a busy square full of shops and takeaways in Swansea's Uplands.

Armed police and the force helicopter responded to the incident this afternoon in Gwydr Square.

Eyewitnesses said the incident between two men caused a commotion and some tried to interject to create distance between them.

One said: "I heard a lot of commotion and one said 'Come on, I'm going to get you'.

"It seemed that the instigator wanted to have a fight and followed the other down the road.

"It must have scared some people who were in the area at the time. One person from one of the cafes went out and tried to separate them.

"There was a fight but that happened away from the shopping area, more towards Gwydr Crescent."
