Police have arrested a 52-year-old man on suspicion of murder after a distinguished antiques dealer was found dead in the front garden of her home.
A neighbour found the body of Robyn Mercer, 50 – who was a partner in a London antiques dealership, with severe head injuries in the front garden of the address at West Molesey, Surrey.
A murder investigation as launched on Monday by Surrey police, who said that a man from the area had been arrested and was being detained at Staines police station.
Mercer’s body is believed to have lain overnight in the front garden, and was found a short distance from the front door of her home on Walton Road.
A forensic tent was set up over the body as police carried out an examination of the scene. A spokesman for Surrey police confirmed that they were treating the death as murder and said that a 52-year-old man had been arrested on suspicion of the murder.
Mercer was a partner in the family firm of JH Bourdon-Smith which is based in the St James area of London. A Surrey police spokesman said a post-mortem examination would be carried out to establish the cause of death.
