Man arrested after another man seriously injured in machete attack by gang of thugs

A man has been arrested after another man was attacked with a machete in Bury.

The 40-year-old victim was left seriously injured after being attacked by a gang of thugs at a property in Ribble Drive, in the Walmersley area of the town, on December 30.

The group had burst into the property moments earlier, police said at the time.

The man was taken to hospital with serious injuries that were not believed to be life-threatening.

Police launched an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the attack.

A 30-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of section 18 assault, say Greater Manchester Police.

He has since been bailed pending further enquiries.
