Man arrested after allegedly jumping social distancing queue at supermarket

A man has been arrested after allegedly trying to jump a queue at Asda in contravention of social distancing rules.

Security staff at a branch of Asda in Trafford Park, Asda challenged the man after he jumped a queue where people were being kept two metres apart.

He is reported to have become abusive and threatening and police were called, reports The Mirror.

An Asda spokesperson said: "Our colleagues are doing everything possible to try and support customers during this time – but we need our customers to treat each other, and our team with respect.

GMP Stretford tweeted: "A male has been arrested for a public order offence today at @asda Trafford Park.

"He tried to jump the queue to pay for his items, ignoring the 2 metre rule, and when challenged by security became abusive and threatening."
