A man has been arrested following an allegation of sexual assault on a young woman at a house party.
The incident is believed to have taken place on Pine View Drive in Wirral following a reported house party at around 9.30am on Sunday (August 14). Officers arrested a man from Heswall on suspicion of sexual assault on Monday (August 15).
He was questioned in relation to the matter and has since been released on bail. Detectives are continuing to appeal for information and are asking people not to speculate about the incident as further enquiries are carried out.

Detective Inspector Paul McVeigh said: “An extensive investigation is continuing in the local area. I would ask people not to speculate about the circumstances of this incident while this remains a live investigation as it could jeopardise our enquiries and could be hugely distressing for anyone involved.
"Anyone found to be sharing information or commenting on the incident via social media will be investigated by police. Instead, I would appeal for anyone who believes they could assist the investigation to contact police as soon as possible.”
