Man arrested after alleged assault on PSNI officers in Antrim

A man has been charged with assault following an alleged attack on two PSNI officers.

The incident took place in the Greenvale Manor area of Antrim on Tuesday February 21.

Officers had been attending a report of a disturbance in the area at around 5.45pm in which a couple had been reportedly attacked at a property.

A statement from the PSNI said: "A 38-year-old man has been charged with a number of offences including assault occasioning actual bodily harm, assault on police, attempted grievous bodily harm with intent and possessing an offensive weapon in a public place.

"He is expected to appear before Ballymena Magistrates’ Court on Thursday, February 23.

"As is normal procedure, all charges will be reviewed by the Public Prosecution Service."
