Man arrested after Aldi supermarket incident

A man has been arrested after a break-in at the Aldi supermarket in Henbury.

Officers and a forensic team could be seen behind a police tape around the Henbury store this morning (November 23).

An Avon and Somerset police spokeswoman said the force received reports of a break-in at the supermarket in Crow Lane at about 9.50pm yesterday.

In a statement, the police said: "Police have made an arrest following a burglary that took place at Aldi supermarket, Henbury yesterday evening (Sunday, November 22).

"Officers responded to a call reporting a break-in at the store at about 9.50pm, and found that entry had been forced to the premises and an attempt had been made to damage an ATM machine.

"The scene was secured for a full forensic examination."

The statement continued: "A 20-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of burglary in connection with the incident and is currently in police custody.

"Enquiries are ongoing."
