Man arrested after a woman 'hit around the head' during incident Oldham

A man has been arrested after a woman was attacked during a disturbance at a house in Oldham.

Officers were called to the property on Cheltenham Street, Derker, and found an injured woman.

She was taken to hospital with injuries to her and arm following the incident on Thursday shortly after 9.30pm.

It is understood she suffered a 'laceration to the head'.

A 48-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of assault.

He remains in custody for questioning.

A photograph taken from the scene showed a large number of ambulances and police vehicles on the street in the aftermath of the attack.

Greater Manchester Police said in a statement: "Shortly after 9.30pm on Thursday, October 24, 2019, police were called to reports of a disturbance at a property on Cheltenham Street in Oldham.

"Officers attended and a 28-year-old woman was taken to hospital with injuries to her head and arm.

"A 48-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of assault and remains in custody for questioning. Enquiries are ongoing."
