A 39-year-old man has been arrested in connection with an alleged serious assault in East Kilbride.
Police and the ambulance service raced to Lyttleton in Westwood shortly before 6pm with officers still standing guard outside a house this morning.
Residents told the News a woman was seen being taken from a nearby property and put in an ambulance by paramedics following the incident.
A spokeswoman for Police Scotland said: "About 5.40pm yesterday police received a report of an alleged serious assault within a property at Lyttleton in East Kilbride.
"A 40-year-old woman was taken to Hairmyres Hospital to be treated for her injuries.
"A 39-year-old man has been arrested and enquiries are ongoing."
Police were unable to confirm the extent of the woman's injuries.
