Man arrested after 11 people hit by Tesla and injured in village horror crash

A man has been arrested after 11 people were hit by a car in a Derbyshire village with some being left seriously injured. The crash happened in Tideswell, near Buxton in the High Peak, last night (Saturday, June 24).

Police were alerted to the collision on the A623 Tideswell crossroads 10:50pm. Emergency services attended and found 11 pedestrians had been struck by a Tesla.

Six teenagers and five adults were injured, Derbyshire Police said in a statement issued this afternoon (Sunday). Some have suffered what force described as serious but not life-threatening injuries.

They said further details on those injured would be released 'in due course' but that all families were aware. The driver of the Tesla, a man in his 20s, was detained at the scene and subsequently arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving, as well as drink driving.

He also suffered serious injuries and was taken to hospital where he remains for treatment.

Following the crash, a warrant was carried out at a house in Tideswell where a quantity of class A drugs were found – and the driver was further arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply class A drugs Derbyshire Police added.
