Man armed with knife 'threatened to kill dog' if it was not put on lead

A man allegedly brandished a knife to a dog walker and threatened to 'kill' the pet if it wasn't put on a lead.

The incident in Old Mill Lane, Mansfield, happened on Thursday (October 1) at about 4.40pm.

It is alleged a man pulled out the blade before saying "put your dog on a lead, otherwise I'll kill it".

The victim rang the police straight away, but the man had left the scene by the time officers arrived at the scene.

He has been described as white, around 30 years old, and wearing an olive green waterproof with a scarf on his face.

Sergeant Matt Dumbrell is leading the investigation for Nottinghamshire Police.

He said: "This was quite a horrible incident, although thankfully no one was injured.

"We were called at around 4.40pm on Thursday to Old Mill Lane in Forest Town after a report of a man with a knife threatening a dog walker's dog, before walking off.

"The man has been described as white, around 30 years old, wearing an olive green waterproof on with his good up and a scarf around his face.

"If anyone can help with our enquiries please call 101, quoting incident number 682 of October 1, 2020."
