Man armed with baseball bat made a threat to "kill" and struck a door

A MAN armed with a baseball bat went on the rampage in Airdrie threatening to “kill”.

Jack McMoneagle, 21, of Kintyre Crescent in Plains, shouted, swore and made threats of violence, including a threat to kill a man.

He also threw bricks, smashed windows and repeatedly struck a front door with a baseball bat.

The incident took place on Queen’s Crescent, Airdrie, on September 17 last year.

Prosecutor Flora Walsh told Airdrie Sheriff Court: “He picked up bricks and began to throw them at windows.

“He then produced a baseball bat and struck a door with the weapon shouting, ‘I’m going to f****** kill you.’

“Police were called and he was taken to Coatbridge police office where he was cautioned and charged and made no reply.”

Sheriff Fergus Thomson ordered McMoneagle to carry out 63 hours of unpaid work, reduced from 70 hours because he was a first offender.

He was ordered to carry out the work within four months.
