Man appears in Townsville court charged with 3yo girl's death

A white four-wheel drive that is part of the police investigation has been towed away from Townsville hospital.

A 29-year-old man has appeared in the Townsville Magistrates court following the death of a three-year-old girl.

Aaron Hill was arrested and charged with manslaughter on Friday night.

His co-accused and mother of the child, 37-year-old Laura Peverill, did not appear.

She is facing a manslaughter charge.

The couple was arrested in relation to the girl's death on Friday.

Police allege the child was left in a car for a considerable amount of time.

Authorities say early investigations suggest the girl died from heat exposure.

Both matters have been adjourned until December 14.

Queensland Attorney-General Shannon Fentiman said it was a "tragedy".

"Clearly there is an ongoing police investigation," she said.

"My heart goes out to the community and family.

"I guess it is a very timely reminder — [it's a] very hot day today coming into summer, you cannot leave children or animals in hot cars for any period of time."
