A man has appeared in court accused of murdering a woman he is alleged to have contacted online before she was found strangled at her home in north-west London.
Miles Donnelly, 34, also known as Miles Ryan, of no fixed abode, appeared at Willesden magistrates court on Monday charged with the murder of Usha Patel, 44. He also faces an additional charge of assault.
Dressed in prison-issue grey trousers and jumper, he spoke only to confirm his name and address and was remanded in custody to appear at the Old Bailey on Wednesday. He has yet to enter a plea.
Patel, 44, was discovered on Thursday at the flat she shared with her five-year-old son. A postmortem examination found she died from strangulation.
