Man appears in court in connection with Lanarkshire murder

A man has appeared at court in connection with a murder in Lanarkshire last week.

Richard Marshall, 33, was found dead in a flat in Camelon Crescent, Blantyre, on Wednesday.

Shane Young, 20, of Cambuslang, made no plea when he appeared at Hamilton Sheriff Court on Saturday.

He was committed for further examination and remanded in custody. He is expected to appear in court again this Friday.

Officers were called to a disturbance last Wednesday (March 31), where Mr Marshall was found dead.

Police Scotland continue to investigate the incident.

Detective Inspector Frank Travers, from the major investigations team, said last week: “Enquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances and there will be a continued police presence in the area while our enquiries continue.

“I would like to thank members of the public for their patience and assistance.

“This appears to have been an isolated incident and anyone with concerns is asked to get in touch with officers.

“If you have information that could help our investigation please contact Police Scotland on 101."

Information can also be left anonymously via Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
