A man has appeared in court charged with wilful fire-raising and murder following a horror blaze at a flat in Pollokshields.
Rahul Thakur, 48, died following the fire which happened in Lincluden Path, McCulloch Street in Glasgow at around 1.30pm on Tuesday, June 1.
On Saturday we told how a 53-year-old man was arrested and charged in connection with the fire on Saturday.
Junaid Saddiqui appeared at Glasgow Sheriff Court on Monday.
He made no plea and was remanded in custody.
Fifteen families were left homeless after the huge fire ripped through the tenement block.
Scots donated clothes and shoes to the families to help them out while arrangements were made to house them.
Tabassum Niamat of local charity The Bowling Green said young children had been left 'in tears' after their toys had burned while a family of eight were now 'heartbroken'.
A GoFundMe fundraiser to help support the victims of the blaze has already reached over £6,500.
