A 23-year-old man has appeared in court charged with the murder of dad-of-two John Gibson.

Gibson, 28, was shot in the head as he sat in his car close to Citywest Shopping Centre in September 2017.

Bell was charged this morning at 9.52am by Detective Kevin Bowen at Tallaght Garda Station.

Detective Bowen said Bell replied "no comment" when the charge of murder was put to him at the station this morning.

The dark-haired accused wore a black hoodie top with a white shirt underneath and sported a freshly clipped beard.

Defending, Ross O'Doherty told the court Bell was on "a range of medication" that "needed to be looked at."

Bell was granted legal aid.

He will appear again before Cloverhill District Court Friday next.
